CC-31 ** PMG XF40 ** May 9, 1776 Continental Colonial Currency NoteScarce & Very Choice
May 9, 1776 "ONE DOLLAR" Continental Colonial Currency Note.
Very conservatively graded and certified by PMG as XF40, which looks about right as viewed from the front side, but the back suggests a much higher grade with its darkly inked, well-detailed nature print and intricate edge ornamentation.
This is a very nice example of the lowest denomination from this challenging issue date of May 9, 1776.
Nice eye-appeal with no problems of any kind, and there are no pin holes.
Clear 5-digit serial number 36101 in red ink, along with the signature of Josiah Hewes in same light red, while that of Philip Kinsey is written in brown ink.
Friedberg lists a price of 0 for a CC-31 in XF45 condition.
This is an authentic & historical item that was printed in our nations birthyear of 1776 and issued during the Revolutionary War (1775-83), just a couple of months before the signing of the Declaration of Independence on the 4th of July 1776.
